Curator of the Curatorial Program #5: FIU Emerging Art
Coordinator of Academic Support Services for the Department of Art + Art History in the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts at Florida International University. Barake began his career at FIU in 2007, within the Division of Student Affairs overseeing the Graham Center Art Gallery. His previous responsibilities at FIU include coordination of artist-in-residency programs and community-based art projects.
He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Curatorial Practice, along with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from Florida International University. He is curator at KER Gallery Art Projects and ConcreteSpace in the Doral, FL. Barake is co-founder of Art Industry Movement, whose current project is the establishment of the DORCAM – Doral Contemporary Art Museum.
